Temple Shalom softball league signing up players

Temple Shalom Brotherhood's slow pitch softball league is preparing for its 29th season. Open to all men 21 and over, it is a draft league with everyone playing two games each Sunday morning at Heritage Yards (near Hedgcoxe and Coit in North Plano). The league plans 16 teams this spring season, with 22 games scheduled for each team plus post-season playoffs for each team in August.

Teams are drafted based on playing ability to ensure parity. New players are rated at one of two tryout weekends, Feb. 23 or March 2 at 9 and 10 a.m. The draft is March 9, with practice games march 16 and 23. Opening day is Sunday, March 30. Championship, All-Star and Oldtimer games are all planned for Sunday, Aug. 17.

To learn more or get an application, see the League Web site, www.shalomleague.org, or contact Hank Weinstein, (972) 390-2105, Henry Sack, (972) 661-3994, or Bob Weinfeld, (972) 924-7775.
